ร้านแบงค์ · Hua Hin, since 2019

Good printing begins before the printer starts.

Thanawat “Bank” Rattanakul runs a two-machine print shop on a side street in Hua Hin. He studied design, not printing — which is why the first thing that happens here is somebody opening your file and looking at it properly.

Send it by LINE or email. Before 15:00 on a working day, you hear back the same day.

The one rule

The machine is the last step

Most of what goes wrong with a printed thing was already wrong in the file. It is almost never the customer’s fault — it just cannot be seen on a phone.

What usually happens

Someone arrives with a photo saved from Facebook, or a menu laid out in Word, and asks for it a metre wide. The shop down the road prints it. It comes back soft, the reds are wrong, and the price of finding out was five hundred copies.

What happens here

Bank pulls his chair over to the monitor and zooms in until you can see the problem yourself. Then you decide. “It looks fine on your phone. At one metre wide, every problem gets bigger too.”

Every working day, 09:00 – 09:30

The machine gets checked before you do

A test page goes through first — the four inks, a greyscale strip, a gradient and a block of 4 pt text. If it is wrong, no customer job starts until it is right. Sometimes that is a blocked nozzle, sometimes it is paper that has taken up damp overnight.

It is also, honestly, why we are sometimes slower than the shop down the road.

Free, whether or not you order

The eight-point file check

Send the file. We tell you what will go wrong before you pay for anything — and what it would cost to fix each thing.

  1. 01

Actual resolution at your finished size

Not the file’s pixel count — what it works out to at the size you asked for.

  2. 02

    Bleed and safe margin

Whether they are there, and what will be cut off if they are not.

  3. 03

Colour mode, and which colours will move

RGB files are converted. Some colours cannot survive it, and we name them rather than let you find out.

  4. 04

    Fonts

Embedded, outlined, or about to be substituted with something else.

  5. 05

Thai tone marks and vowel positions

These break first and most visibly when a font substitutes, and they are the thing a non-Thai designer never checks.

  6. 06

    Anything under 6 pt

It will not read. On a laminated menu, under 7 pt.

  7. 07

Whether the file size matches the size you ordered

An A4 file scaled to A3 loses a quarter of its resolution, and nobody notices until it is printed.

  8. 08

Whether the stock suits where the thing will live

Indoor, outdoor, handled daily, written on, near water.

Why it costs nothing

If the mistake is ours, we reprint it free. If it is in a file you approved, it is a new order. That is why we check first, and that is why the check costs nothing.

Two machines, and their edges

Everything here comes off one of two machines

What they can do is on this page. What they cannot do is on it too — that part is usually more useful.

Wide-format printer

Maximum print width 1.5 m

Maximum print width
1.5 m
Length
Effectively unlimited on roll material
Inks
Eco-solvent, outdoor-rated

Anything wider than 1.5 m is panelled, with a 20 mm overlap seam. The seam is visible from closer than about 3 m. If the design puts a face, fine text or a straight horizon across it, we will ask to change the size rather than print it.

“Possible doesn’t mean suitable.”

Colour digital press

Economic up to about 2,000 pieces

Up to about 2,000 pieces

Over about 2,000 pieces an offset factory will be cheaper and faster. We will say so, and give you the name of one.

“We would rather lose the job than be the expensive option by accident.”

Before you ask

Said plainly

We are not the cheapest shop in Hua Hin

We are not the cheapest shop in Hua Hin. A banner here costs about a third more than the one down the road. The difference is thicker material, ink that is rated for this sun, a colour check before the run, and somebody who looked at your file properly before any of it started. Some jobs do not need that. When yours does not, we will tell you.
